Yeah. For awhile, actually. But not here, I think.

...If you could describe to me your experience, I would be grateful.

[nods] It's, um, going to sound a little crazy. Fair warning.

I come from a place called Sabra La Tau, where the Judges recruit Blanks with the promise of wishes to compete in their games. If you survived for long enough, there was a chance that you could gain a wish. Blanks were usually sorted onto units of up to six people to compete against other units. Every time you won in their games, you got back a part of your memory. But the games could be really dangerous...

I am in a place I do not recognize, wearing clothes I wouldn't dare pick out myself. I believe I can handle "crazy".

[ Listens quietly, attentively-- and nods for him to go on, at the pause. ]

People would die durring some of the games. To be brought back at the end of the games, sure, but...it's hard. And we couldn't refuse.

[there are scars everywhere on him, poking out his collars and cuffs, from the well healed to the new.]

I usually name people after people I knew at home. Like Tiffany, or Esther.

At least you are remembering people from home. Though I would not care to be named after someone else, I think.

I named my teamates after things in space, too. It was kind of like a theme.

[touching the area on his chest, unconsciously, then frowns]

Chaz? Pretty much, it's a nickname my mom gave me.

Yeah. But it took about six memories to come back. It might take awhile.

What were you called until then...?

Uhura. The last name of someone one of my teamates knew.

...That is not like any name I've ever heard...

I imagine not. It's Swahili, from uhuru, meaning freedom.
