Ahahaha, I'd like to be able to tell you, but I'm afraid I don't even know what you mean. "New"...?

I'm not sure I can even assume "yes"...

I think it's a good place to start. I'm Chaz, and I assume you're not sure of what your name is yet.

I woke up like that in the beginning, too. But not here.

The beginning of what?

When I first woke up without my memory.

But you said it wasn't here. And... that means you kept your memories, doesn't it?

Well, yeah, once I got them back. Some of them, not all of them.

You don't want to talk about the other place very much, do you?

[frowns. shakes his head]

Sorry. It's, um. A little extreme if you have nothing else to compare it to. But if you think it would help I can explain it's basics.

I don't mean to make you talk about something that makes you uncomfortable, but if you're willing I think it might help, yes.

Okay. Well, I've come from a place called Sabra La Tau--so named by the Judges, the godlike beings who brought us there--and I'm on the team called Orion. Most people are on teams that compete for memories in games that the Judges run. Each team has its own color, and Orion's is yellow. Like my scarf.

Everyone wakes up without memories, but does wake up with a brief message from themselves, to help them in the games and to obtain their wish. Because that's why we're there, because the Judges grant big wishes. Impossible ones.

... Then this really is a different place.

But- games?

[nods]

Games. Tasks, which you try to complete to the best of your ability. Not...entirely nice or safe ones, sometimes.

And completing those tasks gets you closer to that wish?

Yeah. That, and surviving. Which is sometimes more of a matter of luck, but...

Ah... Definitely not nice or safe.

Should we check and see what's outside?

[nods]

There was a knife in my room. Was there one in yours?

[ goes back into his room

It would be nice if there was a sheath...

Better to be safe then sorry, but maybe we can make one out of leather, if we find lizards or something else we can tan the skin of.
