It's... Claiming. Makin' sure the pack knows who's the leader and that the leader will protect everyone and everyone will protect the leader and that everyone has a role.

He came after me. I was the only one left from the first, but I can't... I can't lead. So he had to be the one, but he wouldn't. No one else on Canis can though. It's just me'n'Shield and Max and him. Shield's his favorite, but he's just a kid, and Max is like me, he can't lead. ...Don't think he really wanted me that much.

The Canis I know is a different group, now... Jace is their leader but he's had a hard time with it. People on other teams blame him for all kinds of things, even if he didn't have anything to do with it at all. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but...

No he was just dumb. Canis is fine, he's just dumb and he doesn't understand and that's why Ushahin had to step in, but fuck. It's hard when your leader isn't on your team.
